Largest show ever to take place at the Centre is promised, with three hours of flying. The 40th balloon fiesta, as its name suggests, is principally a gathering for balloon enthusiasts with ground attractions including music and a fair but there are also air displays. Balloon launches and nightglows some days.

This is a free 4-day festival about 20 minutes walk from Bristol city centre. Shuttle bus or parking (charged) is available.

In 2016 the BBMF and Red Arrows flying displays were cancelled because the organisers were not able to implement some of the Safety Action Points. The Regatta went ahead but without flying displays. In 2018 the issues appear to have been resolved and the Red Arrows are due to fly on 12th and the Dakota on both days.

Despite the cancellation of all flying in 2017, the air display is expected to go ahead in 2018, subject to weather etc.

The Red Arrows are scheduled to fly on Sunday.

The 20th anniversary of this relaxed and friendly show keeps to the Bank Holiday weekend for 2019 after experimenting with a slightly later date in 2017. It may well be the first major show of the year for most participants, so the first public display of new teams, new personnel, new paint schemes etc.

Expect live music, local crafts, vintage and classic vehicles, military and civilian static aircraft, as well as a major fly-in.

There will be a commemoration of the 75th anniversary of D-Day from 2 to 5 June at IWM Duxford and from 6 to 9 June at Caen Carpiquet Airport in France. On 5th June around 30 Douglas Dakotas / DC-3s / C-47s from all over the world are expected to fly in formation across the English Channel for an airborne parachute drop over the original 1944 drop zones.
