Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's 70 years on the throne will be celebrated with four days of festivities beginning with her ceremonial birthday parade on Thursday June 2nd. There will be a flypast at 13.00 comprising elements from the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force. In total there will be over 70 aircraft, including the Red Arrows.

In 2020 the Torbay Airshow became 'The English Riviera Airshow' and was to return in 2021 for a fifth year after 2020's cancellation. However, uncertainty surrounding Covid-19 forced a second cancellation. The rebranded show is now set to launch in 2022 with four days of events, although there may not be flying on all days.

There will be no air displays. This is a fly-in, not an airshow. However, they are aiming to attract 80 visiting aircraft, including historical aircraft from Blackbushe’s past, for their 80th anniversary. Free landing for Fly-In participants. There will be fun and games for all the family, with a static aircraft display, food, drinks, live entertainment, a history hub, and trade stalls.

Gates will open to the public from 11:00-17:00. After 17:00 there will be a party for airport residents and staff, as well as visiting aircraft pilots.

National Armed Forces Day

Scarborough was due to host the 2021 national event but unfortunately, like many other major events, it had to be postponed until 2022 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that Scarborough will now host the prestigious Armed Forces Day National Event from 24 to 26th June 2022.

The national event usually attracts around 200,000 visitors of all ages during the course of the weekend. It boasts an action packed event programme, including spectacular air and ground displays and an extensive military parade.

The biggest event at the airfield. 1940's themed celebration of the 460 Squadron Lancaster Mk 1 (AR-G) that began its wartime service from RAF Breighton in 1942, survived 90 missions and is now preserved in Canberra, Australia. Plans include visiting aircraft, flypasts by the BBMF and RAF Typhoon, the Army Historic Flight, military vehicles, Driffield Silver Band, car and motorcycle clubs, evening hangar party (period fancy dress encouraged) and live music. This is a member event but memberships can be purchased on the day.

The Victory Show

The Victory Show is a tribute to WW2. Over the weekend expect static and flying WWll and modern aircraft, 1940's vehicles, 1940's working and static farm machinery, huge army encampment, 50 re-enactment groups, 200+ vehicles including heavy armour & tanks, tank and steam train rides, trader’s area. The show is also open on Friday 2nd as a Schools Educational Day, but probably without flying.

The Heritage Show became the Vintage Airshow in 2019. The theme remained vintage aircraft, vintage motors, vintage agriculture and vintage bikes, from the Collection and from visitors. The show was to have been extended in 2021 to become a weekend of steam and vintage air displays but with flying on only one day, although the weather put paid to that. The Vintage air and steam show is back for 2022.

Being held a week earlier in 2022 than usual, possibly to avoid a clash with Goodwood Revival, Duxford's September Air Show will again commemorate the Battle of Britain. This is one of the biggest and most popular shows in the airshow calendar and often sells out. As well as flying, there will be living history re-enactments and sounds of the era. The ticket price includes access to the museums and exhibitions and the Flightline Experience.
