Possibly for the first time at a UK aviation event, there will be three Stinson Reliants. The first to book was first-timer Stinson V-77 Reliant 42-46703. Joining it will be repeat visitors G-BUCH and NC50238. Two Spitfires will be there, too; an Antonov AN-2, a pair of Beechcraft Beech 18s and the fascinating TravelAir Mystery Ship.

Chris Hayball will be back in his Slingsby Venture T.2 (ZA634) powered glider and at least 9 Texans / Harvards are also expected, including G-CIUW; Tony St John's Tatenhill-based T6 complete with new colour scheme and "Wacky Wabbit".

Air and Country Show

This relaxed and friendly show moves away from its traditional Bank Holiday weekend slot and is no longer the first major airshow of the season. Nevertheless, it will still be the first show of the year for most participants, so expect the first public display of new teams, new personnel, new paint schemes etc. For the same reason you have to be prepared to be flexible in case not all the certification, such as Public Display Authorities, are in place.

Live music, local crafts, tanks, vintage and classic vehicles and steam; military and civilian static aircraft, as well as fly-in and displays of modern and vintage planes.

Torbay Airshow

Returning for a second year after its very successful 2016 debut. The show will be based over the sea at Paignton and the ground events will be centred on Paignton Green.

An 'event village' will offer stalls, music, food and fair rides.

The show is dedicated to Bob Jones who owned and managed the airfield, and started the show, but died in 2012.

Liverpool will host the National Armed Forces Day event this year. Expect a formal parade and substantial airshow. Wales National Air Show

This show used to be held every two years but became an annual show from 2016. A free event along the South Wales coast, which generally attracts first class displays, attracted over 200,000 visitors in 2016.

Bexhill Roaring 20's

Vintage flying displays help to recreate the 1920's on the classic Bexhill seafront with its Art Deco Pavilion and Edwardian charm. There will be swing and boogie from the era from all over UK including the five-piece jazz/swing Gin City Band from Norwich. There will also be another massive number of people dancing the Charleston simultaneously, led by Charleston dancers from the USA. The aim is to have over 955, compared to last year's 825. 

A 1936 de Havilland DH 87 Hornet Moth G-AHBL will display. The display example is G-AHBL, one of the few Hornet Moths to spend time in military service and one of only four Hornets to be operated on floats.

Flying displays will be mostly fly-overs but will include barnstorming aircraft which will take off and land at the show. Period dress encouraged.

Shuttleworth Edwardian Pageant

A large number of the resident aircraft will fly, with selected visitors. Free rides on the 1913 Wellingborough and 1921 Charabus and the opportunity to look around the Regency Swiss Garden and Shuttleworth House. Many visitors wear Edwardian attire and there is a modest prize for the outfit of the day. There will also be music and an historic vehicle parade.

A week of community events from 5th - 13th August to support local charities. The Red Arrows are due to fly at 6.15 on 10th.

Bristol International Balloon Fiesta

The 39th balloon fiesta, as its name suggests, is principally a gathering for balloon enthusiasts with ground attractions including music and a fair but there are also air displays. Balloon launches and nightglows some days.

This is a free 4-day festival about 20 minutes walk from Bristol city centre. Shuttle bus or parking (charged) is available.

Military and Flying Show

After a decade at Damyns Hall, The Essex HMVA Military and Flying Machines show moves to the militarily historic Maldon area. In the air there will be flypasts, rather than full displays. On the ground, hundreds of military vehicles from push-bikes to trucks and tanks. There will also be arena events, a vintage fair ground, model making and a kids marching drill.

The main public focus of a variety of sea events is over the weekend 25 - 27 August, but there is plenty of land-based fun too, including fancy dress and pavement drawing. The Red Arrows are scheduled to launch the regatta on 25th and, for the first time, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight are also due to display the Lancaster and two Spitfires on 25th.
