This free seafront airshow, previously known as the Herne Bay Air Show, has been renamed for 2017 'The Southeast Air Show, 2017 Herne Bay'. The show was conditional on being allocated displays by the RAF. The Red Arrows, Typhoon and BBMF have now been confirmed, so the show will go ahead.

The main public focus of a variety of sea events is over the weekend 25 - 27 August, but there is plenty of land-based fun too, including fancy dress and pavement drawing. The Red Arrows are scheduled to launch the regatta on 25th and, for the first time, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight are due to display the Lancaster and two Spitfires, also on 25th.

Also expect parachutes with flares and planes with fireworks after dark along with lots of music and other entertainment on the ground for the whole family in this award-winning festival.

Biggest airshow in Ireland. Free air and sea displays, ground shows and exhibitions in two areas: East Strand and Lansdowne. The display line moved to the east side of the peninsular in 2014, bringing it closer to the crowd line and with the Giant's Causeway and Dunluce Castle photogenically in the background.

The Victory Show

Tribute to WW2. Ground show is on for three days, but no airshow or battle re-enactments on Friday. Static and flying WWll and modern aircraft, based on the original, pre-2016, flying line. Also, 1940’s vehicles, 1940’s working and static farm machinery, huge army encampment, 50 re-enactment groups, 200+ vehicles including heavy armour & tanks, tank and steam train rides, trader’s area.

September 9 - 10 Scampton Airshow
RAF Scampton

A new airshow for 2017 and destined to become the main airshow on an RAF base in the UK airshow calendar. It is being organised by the RAF Charitable Trust, who also organise RIAT.

Wartime and modern military and civil aircraft. Expect an impressive line-up including a great deal of foreign participation not commonly seen on the mainland, flying over the coast in St Aubins Bay, adjacent to the island's capital, St. Helier.

April 8 Gazelle 50th Anniversary Commemorative Fly-in

AAC Middle Wallop, the Army's home of the Gazelle, hosted a fly-in of Aérospatiale / Westland Gazelle helicopters to commemorate the type's 50th anniversary. Aviation, craft and charity stands. Helicopters on static display and lots of Gazelles flying in.

De Havilland Vampire WZ507 will be attending both days. Also expected are at least 11 Yaks including 6 Yak 52s: G-YAKI (Dom Wilkinson), stablemate G-XYAK; G-YAKX; G-BVXK and 2 Yak 52's from Belgium. There will also be a Yak 11 (Glenn James & John Hoole).

Attending as well will be Dunkesell-based de Havilland Chipmunk WK634; Chipmunk T.10 WD286, and the 'Round the World 2018' Chipmunk WP973 and Bulldog XX629, Bulldog XX614 (Derek Shark), Auster AOP.9 WZ706 (Peter Gill), Auster AOP6 TW536 (Kevin Hale), Stinson Voyager G-STSN, Morane-Saulnier MS.317, Stolp Starduster Too, Percival Pembroke WV740 and Piper L-4A Grasshopper G-BILI in its original military paint scheme.

Possibly for the first time at a UK aviation event, there will be three Stinson Reliants. The first to book was first-timer Stinson V-77 Reliant 42-46703. Joining it will be repeat visitors G-BUCH and NC50238. Two Spitfires will be there, too; an Antonov AN-2, a pair of Beechcraft Beech 18s and the fascinating TravelAir Mystery Ship.

Chris Hayball will be back in his Slingsby Venture T.2 (ZA634) powered glider and at least 9 Texans / Harvards are also expected, including G-CIUW; Tony St John's Tatenhill-based T6 complete with new colour scheme and "Wacky Wabbit".

This relaxed and friendly show moved away from its traditional Bank Holiday weekend slot and was no longer the first major airshow of the season. Nevertheless, still the first show of the year for most participants, so the first public display of new teams, new personnel, new paint schemes etc.

Live music, local crafts, tanks, vintage and classic vehicles and steam; military and civilian static aircraft, as well as fly-in and displays of modern and vintage planes.

June 3-4 Torbay Airshow

Returning for a second year after its very successful 2016 debut. The show was based over the sea at Paignton and the ground events were centred on Paignton Green.

An 'event village' offered stalls, music, food and fair rides.

The show is dedicated to Bob Jones who owned and managed the airfield, and started the show, but died in 2012.

Liverpool will host the National Armed Forces Day event this year. Expect a formal parade and substantial airshow. The event will be linked with the International Mersey River Festival: a celebration of the waterfront with family fun, music and entertainment. Linked activities will be held on 24 and 25 June.

The History Festival lasts all week from 26th June but the airshow element is usually limited to the final weekend.

This show used to be held every two years but became an annual show from 2016. This free event along the South Wales coast, which attracts first class displays, attracted over 200,000 visitors in 2016.

July 1 - 2 Blackbushe Festival of Flight

To celebrate the airport's 75th anniversary, there will be a 'Festival of Flight' recognising the past, present and future, with representatives of as many as possible of the aircraft types connected to Blackbushe. The festival promises to be 'bigger and better' than AirDay 2016 and will also pay tribute to those who flew from Blackbushe never to return. Adult tickets £20 in advance, £25 on the gate, either day.
The Airbus A318, previously listed, is not now going to appear.

The organisers have now advised that there will be NO FULL FLYING DISPLAYS but that the aircraft at Blackbushe will be able to take off, fly-by and land. This information, released very late, means that this is really a fly-in, not an airshow.

One of the most popular warbird air shows and possibly THE heritage air show of the aviation calendar, drawing visitors from around the world. Historic piston engined aircraft in rare combinations in the air and an authentic 1940s atmosphere on the ground.
The finale is a 'balbo': a massed-formation featuring many of the aircraft that took part in the flying displays.

Vintage flying displays help to recreate the 1920's on the classic Bexhill seafront with its Art Deco Pavilion and Edwardian charm. Swing and boogie from the era from all over UK including the five-piece jazz/swing Gin City Band from Norwich and another attempt on the Charleston world record, simultaneously, led by Charleston dancers from the USA.

Not a British Airshow, but Ireland's biggest free air show: part of the month-long Bray Summerfest, was stretched from the traditional one-day event to two days last year. About 3 hours of flying each day supported by the Irish Defence Forces, Irish Air Corps, local and UK civilian teams and some impressive international teams as well, with plenty of interest on the ground as well and helicopter flights.

Silverstone Classic's 27th show. The race course is built on a wartime airstrip. Spandau Ballet and Dire Straits have already been booked in this event that blends classic motoring spectacles with big name musical acts and air displays.

A gathering of de Havilland Moths, returning to Old Warden again after their debut here in 2016, replacing the Woburn Moth Rallies. Moth pilots can register to attend - around 80 did on 2016. Free visitor entry to the grounds for the event but visits to the Collection will be at group entry rate - payable on the day.

Largest show at the Heritage Centre. Lancaster cockpit viewing, aircraft fly-ins and photo opportunities with the Heritage Centre-based Lancaster 'Just Jane and the Jeep'. During the day: re-enactors, Lancaster taxi runs, trade stalls, vintage cars, military vehicles. Tickets numbers limited to 5,000. All to raise funds for the restoration of Lancaster NX611.

August 5 - 6 Croft Nostalgia Festival
Croft Circuit, West Lane, Dalton-on-Tees, North Yorkshire
On the site of RAF Croft, a WW2 RAF Bomber Command station and later a sub-station of RAF Middleton St. George. Now home to the Croft Race Circuit. Historic motor sports on the track. Historic cars, buses, bikes, military vehicles, dioramas, re-enactors and live music in the show fields. Flying displays will be mostly fly-overs but will include barnstorming aircraft which will take off and land at the show. Period dress encouraged.

A large number of the resident aircraft will fly, with selected visitors. Free rides on the 1913 Wellingborough and 1921 Charabus and the opportunity to look around the Regency Swiss Garden and Shuttleworth House. Many visitors wear Edwardian attire and there is a modest prize for the outfit of the day. There will also be music and an historic vehicle parade.

Aug 10 - 13 Bristol International Balloon Fiesta
Ashton Court Estate, Bristol

The 39th balloon fiesta, as its name suggests, is principally a gathering for balloon enthusiasts with ground attractions including music and a fair but there are also air displays. Balloon launches and nightglows some days.

This is a free 4-day festival about 20 minutes walk from Bristol city centre. Shuttle bus or parking (charged) is available.

Aug 12 - 13 Military and Flying Show
Chigborough Road, Maldon, Essex
After a decade at Damyns Hall, The Essex HMVA Military and Flying Machines show moves to the militarily historic Maldon area. In the air there will be flypasts, rather than full displays. On the ground, hundreds of military vehicles from push-bikes to trucks and tanks. There will also be arena events, a vintage fair ground, model making and a kids marching drill.
