RAF Red Arrows Displays this year
The RAF Red Arrows have released their display schedule for the 2018 season. And a very busy season it will prove to be, with no fewer than 60 displays over 43 venues before the 16-week season ends.
Unsurprisingly, the Red Arrows will display at the RAF Cosford Air Show on 10th June: the only official Royal Air Force airshow organised by the RAF on a functioning RAF base. They will also display on all three days of the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT), styled the ‘world's greatest airshow’ and one of several shows proud to celebrate Centenary of the RAF.
The Red Arrows remain true to their family fanbase, too, with no fewer than 37 displays at 26 seaside airshows, regattas and carnivals, where crowds are often counted in the hundreds of thousands.
As well as the UK and Ireland, the Red Arrows will also display in Menorca and in Monte Carlo, which hosts their season finale on September 27th.
Following the terrible incident on March 20th, in which Corporal Jonathan Bayliss sadly lost his life and Red 3 Flt Lt David Stark was injured, longest-serving Red Arrows pilot and long-time Red 10, Squadron Leader Mike Ling MBE, has forgone an opportunity to fly with The Blades aerobatic team to fill the Red 3 slot for the 2018 season.
As always, displays can be changed if weather, technical issues or other concerns get in the way of a safe display but there is a list of scheduled display dates on the Red Arrows web site. The British Airshows web site also has a map of the places in the UK where they are due to display, with a list showing the dates and brief details of the various shows and other events where the Red Arrows are set to enthral the crowds.
